Arun Jaitley remained in a critical condition - AIIMS

New Delhi: Previous finance minister and experienced BJP leader Arun Jaitley remained in a critical state and was seated on life support by Friday afternoon. He was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on August 9, due to some health issue.
Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, health minister Harsh Vardhan and minister of state for health Ashwini Kumar Choubey visited Arun Jaitley at AIIMS on Friday morning.

Jaitley was admitted in the country’s Excellent medical institution on August 9 morning and after that day he was put on ventilator late in the night. He has since been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU). According to a release by media and protocol division of AIIMS on the same day, the former minister is under the supervision of a team comprising multidisciplinary doctors, “At present, his blood pressure and heart rate is stable”. The hospital has not published any medical summary after August 9 on Jaitley's health condition.

This old leader is 66 years old, who held important responsibilities during the first tenure of PM Narendra Modi-led NDA government, has not been keeping well for some time. He did not even participate in the 2019 Lok Sabha election due to health reasons. In February also, Piyush Goyal had to present the interim budget as Jaitley was in the US for treatment.

After Narendra Modi government regained power after the Lok Sabha elections, Jaitley wrote to Prime Minister Modi, declaring that he would not take up any duty/responsibility in the government due to his deteriorating health condition.

AIIMS Medical officials have seen that the Indian former Finance Minister is now haemodynamically stable and recovering from his critical situation. At present, he is out of risk.
President Ram Nath Kovind attended former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at the AIIMS on Friday along with Union Health Minister Harsha Vardhan and other senior officials from the Ministry.

The 66-year-old Mr Aun Jaitely has been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the AIIMS since August 9. Jaitely admitted with complaints of uneasiness, weakness and breathlessness.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and other top Bharatiya Janata Party leaders visited the hospital to inquire about his health.
AIIMS officials have noted that Mr Jaitley is now stable and recovering. He is under the intensive care of a special team of doctors.
